Reed Gold Mine is located in Midland and is a perfect stopover for a family! Not only will kids learn about the mine but they will also have to opportunity to Pan for gold! Some of the other historic sites include Latta Plantation, Alamance Battleground, Tryon Palace and the Thomas Wolfe Memorial. Other attractions in the state include the NASCAR Hall of Fame, Hearst Castle, Nantahala National Forest and Shelton Vineyards. Also, right across the border in South Carolina, Carowinds amusement park draws large crowds with it’s thrill-inducing roller coasters and other amusement rides.
