When carrying out a search online for what ski resorts in PA to stay at you will be astounded at just how many you have to choose from. What you will notice that these resorts are spread out over a three different areas of the State of Pennsylvania.
A large number of these ski resorts are to be found in the Pocono Mountains which are situated in the Eastern part of the State of Pennsylvania. Whilst other resorts are to be found in the Western part of this State known as Alleghenies and more resorts are to be found in the Southern part of the State of Pennsylvania close to the towns of Harrisburg and Gettysburg.
The resorts situated in the Pocono Mountains are within easy reach of major cities such as New York City and Philadelphia. Whilst those in the Alleghenies region are located within easy reach of cities such as Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Ohio. Whereas the resorts which are located to the south can easily be reached from both Washington DC and Baltimore.
In this article we take a brief look at a number of the resorts which are proving to be popular with skiers not just living in the US but from around the globe.
Bear Creek Mountain – This resort is situated a short distance from Philadelphia (65 miles) and New York City (95 miles) in the south eastern part of the State of Pennsylvania. There are many different ski runs available to suit all abilities and the longest of them all reaches a distance of 1.5 miles. But not only is this resort famed for its skiing it is a great place to do snowboarding and snow tubing as well.
Camelback – This is situated in the north eastern part of the State of Pennsylvania and in the very heart of the Pocono Mountain Range. As with Bear Creek it offers a wide range of different skiing facilities to suit all abilities and you can even attempt snow tubing and snowboarding here as well. This resort is situated some distance from both New York City (80 miles away) and Philadelphia (90 miles away).
Shawnee Mountain Ski Area – Another one of the many ski resorts located in the Pocono Mountains and it is again some distance to travel from New York City and Philadelphia as is Camelback. But actually accessing the resort is relatively easily as it is situated close to I-80 (Interstate Highway 80). But as with all the resorts we mention in this article it offers slopes to suit any skier whether a complete novice or professional.
When it comes to arranging a winter skiing vacation because there are so many different ski resorts in PA to choose from, you will find yourself spoilt for choice.
